Para mí la clave de la cultura de una época está en que sea capaz de expresar las tensiones, las contradicciones, las esperanzas y heridas de un tiempo. Por ello quiero señalar esas contradicciones que subyacen en las fronteras que intentan ordenar un mundo cada vez más comunicado.
El lugar de nacimiento hace que mueran muchas personas en el Mediterráneo, pierden la vida en el intento de flotar sobre la misma línea que transitan barcos seguros o grandes camiones llenos de mercancías. Bajo estas personas que retan la estructura geopolítica global, la línea se hunde; y mientras tanto, sobre sus cabezas, millones de vuelos al año se nutren de productos a los que nadie puede detener porque no hay fronteras ni vallas que puedan detener el flujo impersonal de los consumidores.
For me the key to the culture of an era is that it is capable of expressing the tensions, contradictions, hopes and wounds of a time. That is why I want to point out those contradictions that underlie the borders that try to order a world that is increasingly communicated.
The place of birth causes many people to die in the Mediterranean or at the US border, they lose their lives in the attempt to float on the same line as safe boats or large trucks full of goods. Underneath these people who challenge the global geopolitical structure, the line is sinking; and meanwhile, above their heads, millions of flights a year are fed by products that no one can stop because there are no borders or fences that can stop the impersonal flow of consumers.
