REDUCTO

REDUCTION

Thinking that new ways of living represent more the growing social polarization that we live, I observe how in the outskirts of the cities a new concept of community is born. Populations that are closed in on themselves are formed, supposedly historical, autonomous and hyper-communicative. This new system puts into practice what has already been tried in embassies or military bases, forming communities of a new elite that feels threatened by its superiority. The new walls are the highways that connect the centers of production and consumption. The people who occupy these environments live, work and consume in walled enclosures, so they will grow up surrounded by equals, orphans of the conflict and disorder that feed the social. As a formal strategy, to confront the character of this landscape, I look for locations without wear and tear, recent constructions that contain in their structure the necessary elements for fortification and telecommunications.
